“It is ingrained in us that we have to do exceptional things for God, but we do not. We have to be exceptional in the Ordinary things of life and holy on the Ordinary streets among Ordinary people, and this is not learned in five minutes.”
How do we live in the Ordinary?
This blog is about living in the Ordinary, trying to be mindful of the simple things we do each day that impact one another. It’s about the Ordinary daily interactions of family and ways we try to be purposeful in motherhood. Ordinary is in the day-to-day rigors of life, and we want to add a touch of Christ’s compassion and humility to these daily tasks. It’s the hope of uniting together in the Ordinary moments…as we stand shoulder-to-shoulder at sporting events, attend our children’s activities and wait in line at the grocery store. We are keenly aware this is an ongoing process, and some days we fare better than others.
We believe that the Ordinary threads that we all represent, when woven together under the Lord’s workmanship, produce a beautiful tapestry that brings layers of warmth, security and assurance to where we belong. God gives each woman the threads to weave her masterpiece with Him. It is called Home, and there are many wonderful layers within. We want to explore the Ordinary threads within our homes and families, and then stretch these into our communities.
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” — Ephesians 2:10
